School Council

Our school council consists of two members from each class from Year 1 to Year 6.  They have been elected by their class to represent their classmates’ views and to be part of making improvements to the school.  They meet fortnightly with Miss Easton to discuss problems raised, finding solutions where possible and carrying out the ideas they have discussed.  The School Council are supported by two clerks who take and distribute minutes of the meetings, keeping the School Council board up to date.

November News from School Councillors

We are doing a Superkind award and so if you would like to do something at home like run a marathon for charity or give stuff to the homeless, that would be brilliant. There’s of other stuff you could do too. If you do, let us know and we will add it to our Superkind award. We are need to get one each but we are hoping for way more!
This month in school, we are going to do a protest about anti-bullying. The protest will be taking place in the playground at 12:45 on Friday lunchtime (15th November). You can make posters, boards and stuff. You can make whatever you want but it has to be about anti-bullying. If you want to work on it in school you can go to Miss Easton in the KS1 library on Wednesday or Thursday lunchtime. You could also do it at home. If you want to take part in the protest, you’re more than welcome. Just come and join us on Friday lunchtime on the playground. (This is open to children not parents.) If you do see bullying – Tell a teacher!
Finally, we have had an update about Jasper our Guide Dog puppy. Click this link to find out how he is doing.

More information about the Superkind Award from Miss Easton

This year we are taking part in the Superkind Award. The award recognises and celebrates all the different things the children do each year to make a difference to the community around them. Throughout the year the children will be getting involved in different things – volunteering, campaigning and fundraising for example – that benefit the world around them as well as enabling them to grow themselves.
School council introduced the award to school in Collective Worship before half term, and each month will be leading the school to take part in social action through all sorts of different ways. They will share with you via each month’s newsletter the action they are taking that month. We are recording the social actions for each child and these will all go towards our Superkind Award. We need to log at least one action for each child, but we are planning to achieve a lot more than that.
Social Actions are not limited to what we do at school. Please also encourage your children to take part in social actions at home. This could be anything form helping pick up litter outside your home to pledging to use public transport or walking instead of taking the car (when it is safe to do so). And of course, if your children do take social action while at home, please encourage them to let us know so that we can log it and celebrate what they have done.
The award is run by a non-profit social action platform, superkind.org, who provide tonnes of resources to help educate, inspire and empower children to be change makers. Please do check out their site with your children. Superkind.org

School Council Welcome

School Council representatives have been elected and we have had our first meeting. We are trying to change the school for the better. We have been trusted with this big role and we will endeavour to fulfil our promises that we made in our elections. If there is a problem we will try our best to solve it. Please let the representative from your class know.
